Part of the original Pueblo lands, Los Puebla de las Nuesta Senora La Riega de Los Angeles, center of the settlements, established by Governer Don Felipe de Neve, whose statue stands in this park. The church was completed in the 1820's.

Franked with the purple 3 cent Statue of Liberty and cancelled in the Santa Monica, B. writes Dear Mother. Just a line to say "Hello," and send love to you. B, And this time the postcard is sent to Mrs. Iola M. Millar, 5522 Greenwood, Temple City, c/o Santa Anita Sanitarium, Building 5. Marking a stopping point in the B and Mrs. Iola correspondence.
