Barbara (nee Howe) Roberts [1918-2013] See H, See R
February 1, 2014 A couple of weeks ago I was inspired to write a short recollection of Barbara by a newspaper piece about a nun who had protested the nuclear missiles still absurdly deployed to guarantee our self-destruction in the case where the provocation was someone trying to kill everyone first. This nun was the very sort of person who would be a guest at Barbara’s home grateful for her hospitality and intelligently arguing for her choice of politics, action and fundraising. One such person who I met at Barbara’s was Sister Jackie, about to begin her prison sentence, but a remarkable human being for her dedication and commitment. A rare individual but someone you grew accustomed to meeting at Barbara’s. I wrote some of this out as I leafed through Drop Box, but somewhere along the way I lost my draft acknowledgement. So here is a second shot at Barbara’s community service and her role as a catalyst and a provocateur.
