DAVID MELTZER & JULIE ROGERS

David Meltzer and Julie Rogers have been performing their work together since 2010. They will read separately and also in the manner of a back and forth duet, referred to as “Fours” in jazz terms.” Regular Admission.

DAVID MELTZER LECTURE & DISCUSSION:

BASIC MYSTERIES

David Meltzer, Beat & SF Renaissance Poet, will offer a workshop on exploring some of the basic mysteries of poetry and poetics.  Topics will range from poetry’s roots in oral culture, the invention/mythologies of writing systems, the book and the page, to its present tense return to orality and the wired realms of reading/receiving texts. This workshop is designed for people who are interested in and enjoy reading and/or writing poetry.  $50 general admission. $40 for seniors and students with an ID. Beyond Baroque and Temple of Man members $35.00.

in the Beyond Baroque Theater

Nancy Shiffrin, Nan Hunt, Alice Pero perform their work at Beyond Baroque, including the premiere of new flute piece by Carol Worthey performed by Alice Pero. The Vast Unknowing collects a wide spectrum of poetry from Nancy Shiffrin...One of her main questions is Who are we? What made us that person? She explores a number of sources of our identity.  Regular Admission.

PETER CHERCHES & MICHAEL C FORD
in the Mike Kelley Gallery

A well-known minimalist short fiction writer, Peter Cherches is also a singer and performance artist. His short short fictions present complete narratives of usually less that one page. The stories, carefully wrought with close attention to the language, often employ irony, wit, and surreal elements. Cherches was also editor of Zone, a magazine that, with Benzene, published many of writers in the downtown New York scene. He will be reading in the Mike Kelley Gallery.

PHILIP DAUGHTRY & JOHN BRANDI

Philip Daughtry was born and raised in a coal mining village in England. He is the author of four books of poetry including the NEA award winning, The Stray Moon. poet and painter, is a native of Southern California. A recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Poetry Fellowship and several awards from the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry, his thirty-plus books and chapbooks include poems, travel writing,

haiku and haibun. This reading will celebrate his just-released book from White Pine Press: The World, the WorldRegular Admission.
