I have three copies of the book. Their structure, ambition, and universality are intriguing. I met Shulamis Yelin, who I thought was the Professor of Yiddish Poetry at McGill University in Montéal, Canada in Gilah Yelin’s Venice, California studio and home on her way to Shulamis’ annual winter retreat to Palm Springs, California. I could be mis remembering all these details, so the solidity of this book is reassuring even though it looks like one of the premises is the difficulty Shulamis and others had locating her.
